Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. Mt. Fuji is a rare mountain that has repeatedly erupted since ancient times, causing suffering each time, but is also an object of worship as a symbol of Japan. The area beyond the forest limit is covered with red and black pebbles derived from magma, creating a desolate landscape. Looking beyond the vast foot of the mountain, one can see Aokigahara, which spreads out on top of the accumulated magma. Mt. Fuji as a volcano, which is often forgotten when just gazing at it from afar, and the overwhelming power of the earth's workings were strongly impressed upon my mind.
Byobugaura is a scenic area of sea cliffs. It is located along the Pacific Ocean coastline from Choshi City to Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture. The cliffs, which are made up of strata from the Neogene Pliocene and later, are distributed over a distance of about 10 km.
Nakaya Ukichiro Museum of Snow and Ice was established in honor of the physicist Nakaya Ukichiro. Its courtyard is covered with stones brought from a glacier in Greenland.
It is an art museum established by sculptor Isamu Noguchi before his death to exhibit his work. Visitors can see a variety of Isamu Noguchi's works inside and outside his former studio, which was converted from a printing factory and a gas station.
